Maybe I should say they went for a deep throw and only got a pass interference, not a bomb. Hunter King and Tyler Hines had decent chemistry here, and we liked Tyler in a few of these movies. However, there were a few things in this movie that took us out of the story, like the mother and grandmother practically throwing Hunter into a stranger’s lap as soon as he walked in the door.

Then the whole trope about Hunter getting upset over “distrust of the hat” was funny, especially when it was the best thing the writers could come up with to add a little late-night suspense to the novel. Most of the “best fan” storyline worked, and Ed Begley Jr. Parkinson’s has made him look 15 years older than he should at 75, which is unfortunate, but not his fault.

Few movies this year have had an annoying supporting character who overplays himself in an uncomfortable way, and this movie is one of them. The owner of the deli almost forced me to pick up this movie within the first five minutes. We don’t regret watching it, despite some plot issues, but we won’t be going back for a rerun.
