Decades after their clash at the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, middle-aged Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence find themselves once again as martial arts rivals. Avildsen shot hours of footage of the match from multiple angles. The Cobra Kai crew scoured the studio and found a number of previously unseen clips that they were able to incorporate into the series through flashbacks. One of the different angles features Zabka’s real-life mother, who was only seen in 2018, standing in the stands. Ralph Macchio told Uproxx that the famous crane kick has three entirely new angles.
This means that The Next Karate Kid changed its name, while Cobra Kai kept its original name
Many believe that Miyagi’s name on his tombstone is a continuity error, as in The Next Karate Kid (1994), his name is Keisuke, but it was actually previously shown on a plaque that Chozen held for him in Karate Kid II – Entscheidung in Okinawa. (1986) Nariyoshi. But another interesting fact is that “The Karate Kid II.” part of the name was not his original name. Miyagi. In The Karate Kid (1984), Miyagi’s dog tag, which was attached to the keys to a 1948 Ford given to Daniel for his birthday, briefly shows that Miyagi’s name is Hideo.
Cobra Kai has blown us away with its great storytelling

That’s what we need from shows, to give us a unique and interesting perspective. Cobra Kai flips the script and presents Johnny Lawrence’s perspective, it’s really his story. He’s the one who lost, and it turns out he’s a real person with very real flaws.
It’s no longer a one-dimensional “good vs
evil” story; a story we’ve all been told a million times. It mirrors the ‘loser’ from the memorable 1984 film The Karate Kid and 34 years later. Because of this narrative and twist, I think Johnny is an inspiring figure who is doing everything he can to rebuild his life. Johnny is a very down-to-earth and simple character who makes the most of what he’s given, isn’t that how we live? In a funny way, we sometimes see the arrogance and attitude of Daniel LaRusso, who was originally a hero.
