Quite the opposite
Over time, we’ve been slowly watching Game of Thrones since the very first episode (gradually due to a busy schedule), hearing amazing things about it from friends, family, and IMDb reviewers. Plus, with such a great cast of talent and a brilliant book series, how could it go wrong? The good news is that Game of Thrones didn’t do badly. Not only is it the rare TV show that faithfully and respectfully honors its original source material, but it’s also one of the best, most addictive, and consistently compelling shows of recent years. A show so brilliant that you have to actually check if it was made for TV, since everything is done to such a high standard that it puts many modern films to shame. It’s one of the strongest examples of an acclaimed series that deserves every bit of praise it gets.
Visually, Game of Thrones looks incredible
The scenery is spectacular, the sets are incredibly atmospheric and beautiful, with incredible attention to detail, and the costumes fit the characters perfectly. Then there’s the special effects, some of the best on TV, that don’t feel overused or overused. The scale, detail, and the character and soul they have are better than many big-budget blockbusters. As is the cinematography and editing, which are also cinematic. Game of Thrones is hard to talk about without mentioning its thematic, orchestral and atmospheric music and unforgettable theme. Again, worthy of a big budget fantasy/action/drama.
They are not overly long or out of place
It’s hard not to be fooled by the quality of the script, “outstanding” is not a strong enough adjective to describe how good the script is. It always flows naturally, is multi-layered and thought-provoking and displays a wide range of emotions, such as gripping tension, poignant pathos and witty humor. The storylines are beautifully paced, structured with such nuance and attention to coherence, high emotional levels and handles complex and sensitive topics with intelligence and tact. Whenever there is a set piece or a more action-oriented scene there is always a reason, never without a reason. Not only are the sets impressive in scale, with excellent staging, excitement, and dramatic tension, but underneath all the grandeur and brilliant attention to detail, there is a lot of heart and a lot of layering. The characters also play a huge part in the appeal.
Game of Thrones has characters that are as well-developed and as close to real life as you can get, despite being in a fantasy world
These characters are not hero or villain archetypes (only Joffrey comes close, but the difference is that he is an incredibly interesting character with a lot of development and is well over 100 percent on the threat level scale), they are much more than that and have strengths and weaknesses. The decisions are logical and you don’t like any character less when they make the wrong decision because they admit their mistakes and learn from them.
